SOH and safety check of HV batteries

The high-voltage battery is the most valuable part of an electric vehicle, and therefore plays an important role in the sale of a used car. The ‘State of Health’ (SOH) provides information about the integrity of the HV battery. It is important for you, as the experts or professionals in the workshop, to be able to determine the SOH quickly and reliably, which is exactly why we have developed AVL DiTEST HV Check – a combination of diagnostics technology and data analysis. It currently supports 322 electric and hybrid models from the manufacturers Audi, BMW, Cupra, Fiat, Ford, Mercedes Benz, Mini, Opel, Porsche, Seat, Skoda, Smart and VW. Stellantis, Kia/Hyundai, Nissan, and Tesla will follow by the end of 2025.

Answers with the HV-Check

  • You are reading error codes from the HV battery. Reported errors are an indication of necessary upcoming repairs.
  • The vehicle’s SOH readout gives an indication of the battery’s condition and thus of its remaining range.
  • Various readings are provided to help you assess safety, such as insulation resistances, temperatures and the status of contactors. The integrated safety card helps you quickly identify components relevant to safety in order to carry out a visual inspection.
