AVL DITEST micrΩhm

With the AVL DiTEST micrΩHM (IRP, Internal Resistance Probe), you can measure the internal resistances of individual battery modules as well as the resistances between the modules of a traction battery. Thanks to the compact design of the micrΩHM and its intuitively guided software, you can perform measurements in the workshop quickly and easily.

The internal resistance is a key indicator of the so-called State of Health of a battery module. In an intact battery, both
the module internal resistances and the module connections (busbars) have a low resistance. These resistances can increase in the case of older or defective
modules or their connections. If a high current is then drawn, such as during acceleration, the battery can overheat.
This leads to a voltage drop and thus a reduction in performance of the entire battery. In the worst case, increased resistance can even trigger a fire
in the battery.

By measuring the individual module internal resistances, you can identify modules with increased resistance so that they can be replaced if necessary. The micrΩHM measures resistances with high precision even in the μΩ range, enabling the detection of faulty contact points or module connections. In addition, the micrΩHM allows you to ensure the proper installation of (new) modules or their connections, as contaminated or incompletely secured module connections exhibit increased contact resistance.
